Motherhood

Digital Photography
This is part of the Hidden Beauty series I undertook in college. One frustrating afternoon as deadlines were looming I happened upon this scene. I was greatly pleased because it finished off my series perfectly and even became my star piece. Just goes to show you that sometimes you just got to let it flow.

Ophelia

Acrylic on Canvas 101cm x 152cm
This is one of my favorite paintings to date. I was fortunate enough to have a model for three
sessions of three hours. Near the end I was getting kinda distracted and having fun with the piece. Consequently I developed a dialogue with the piece that allowed it to freely evolve. Typically I have the bad habit of forcing a particular theme or idea. As it approached completion I decided to instill it with Shakespeare's Ophelia. A tragically romantic character that was driven to suicide.

Self Reflection

My first experimentation with darkroom photography and a pin-hole camera. There was about a 2 minute exposure time so I thought it would be cool to expose myself twice.

Hourglass Figure

Clayboard each 4" x 6"
This was really odd to work with but enjoyable none the less. At first glance its just a piece of masonite covered with black paint, but as you scrap away the paint white lines are revealed. I read that you can add color, but I chose not to. This project was about creating a visual joke of sorts by contrasting two objects of similar form.

It's About Time

Acrylic on masonite, 40 x 40 cm

This was one of my first paintings and an attempt at cubism. I choose a random lantern and abstracted it until I ended up with this. In the end it was more about experimentation with color.

Ascension

This is a sculpture I created during my 2nd year of college. I don't really enjoy sculpture because my vision always exceeds my means. Like most of my sculpture work at college this project was about material limitations. We were given a piece of plywood and a 2x4 and told to create. I was emulating a famous sculpture but the name escapes me at the moment.

New Blog!

I have been doing the art thing for a couple years now and I thought it was about time I put my name out on the internet. Like all blogs it will be an ongoing project, but I will do my best to post all the work I have done so far.
