Painting painting

This project was based on the idea of creating a painting within a painting similar to the famous Las Meninas by Velazquez's. At the time I felt the project was too simple so I took it upon myself to complicate it. Big mistake on my part. It quickly turned into one of my more frustrating paintings. In the end I resolved to pour my frustration into it. I decided to make a mock still lift of the unfinished work in the corner of the room. I'm just glad my studio has such an interesting floor.

Why Create?

I create to impact lives. So people will notice me(my ideas).
I want to deeply affect others as my ideas have affected me.
This is what drives me - gives me my purpose. So would my greatest fear be to fade away?
I must impact lives, through art, through life. I want to disturb the normal - wake people up.
No, I need to make change. But how?
It doesn't matter what I am remembered as. As long as I am remembered. Remembered as something positive is a bonus. The ideas must live on.

This is part of a series I started in college. It has been my most research intensive endeavor yet. My goal was to visual depict various abnormal psychological conditions. I based this piece on a group of case studies. As a result a great deal of the composition was carefully planned out in reference to my research.

Everyday Magic

This was created in collaboration with Joerg Brinkmann, an amazing artist that was on an exchange at the time. It was made for performance art class at Concordia University. The purpose of the video was to emphasis the everyday magic that we experience.

Wolf Woman

Ballpoint pen 22" x 30"

This was for a project based on monsters that I completed in college. I always enjoyed sketching with a ballpoint pen so I decided to attempt a large scale piece. I am relatively happy with the result. The image has a good feel but the composition has some spacial problems. In the end I think it was a good exploration.
